Creating a blog is not an easy task even though some people might think so. Matter of fact, it requires a lot of dedication, professionalism and knowledge.
You need to keep in mind that a successful blog has to be positioned correctly to attract the desired audience, regardless of what the end goal is.
That’s why I’ve separated some tips to help you start building your blog right now, in 5 steps that are very important. Keep on reading!
1. Set goals and objectives
To start any project, planning is necessary. Nothing that too advanced or complicated, but you need to have your goals and objectives well defined.

What is the purpose of your blog, are you creating it for what purpose? What are your goals? You need to be very focused on these questions because otherwise, after a while, you will post anything just because you found it interesting and want to share it with others.
Sharing content is cool, yes, but that alone won’t bring you the return you expect from your blog. It is necessary to go further.
Go above and beyond
For example, in six months, you will have produced (x) number of articles, will have gained (y) number of visitors, and will be applying (z) content strategies to increase your blog’s conversion.
It is important that you, from time to time, review your goals and objectives. Thus, it will be possible to assess whether the company is moving in the right direction or whether it is necessary to adapt or reformulate any strategy.
2. Define your persona
Alan Cooper has created the concept of Buyer Personas because he believed that segmenting people by target audience was too broad and generic. Having good personas means that you know your audience well and thus increase the chances of achieving your goals.
Personas are like semi-fictional characters, created to represent the potential customer. They are the people you will talk to when you are writing an article for the blog, thinking and analyzing their desires, fears and needs.
3. Organize your time and content production routine
It is very common to produce a large amount of content in the first few weeks, then you get tired, other tasks appear… and the blog ends up left aside.
For that not to happen, organize your time. For example, determine that your content production schedule will be as soon as you wake up, three times a week. So on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, right after breakfast, you will sit down and write.

Going a long period of time without producing anything is bad for your blog and the people who follow it. So don’t let that happen. But then a question arises: what if I have nothing to say? There are days that “give a blank” and the lack of creativity takes care of us, huh?
For this reason, another important tip is to plan the content. Develop an editorial calendar, set agendas for each production day and mark the days for publication of articles. It is important that the guidelines contain at least: persona, theme, keywords, text structure and reference sites with the content that will be addressed.
4. Invest in SEO
Remember that one of the first things I have said here is that a successful blog has to be positioned correctly to attract the desired audience?
In other words, to get visitors, your blog needs to show up to them. How? Investing in the main strategy that allows that: SEO β or Search Engine Optimization.
Think with me: whenever a question arises, it only takes a few seconds for us to find an answer on Google. Isnβt it? The same goes for the potential readers of your blog, who access this search engine to answer the questions that you or your company answers.
SEO makes sure that your blog can be on the first page of Google results to ensure the success of the project as a whole. Wouldn’t that be great?
5. Pay attention on the competition
Finally, you must always be aware of your competitors, after all, if the reader does not find what he is looking for on your blog, he will certainly find it in others. Read other blogs, readers’ opinions, study the strategies used by the competition. Thus, you will extract what is best for your website and you will be able to please your audience even more.

Conclusion
A successful blog does more than only attracting more visitors, it also helps you to build authority and trust within your audience!
This means that content marketing, in addition to providing new opportunities and sales, also builds an audience that is truly interested in you or your company (and what you have to say), making it its own channel β just like I do for myself and the companies I have worked with.
